20:2193531You can vote in the blues to be the goverment and you can vote in the reds for government but once in are they the real power of government, they would like you to think that but it would be wrong, who then is the real power?
Well they are never voted in and you never see them, and you might not even know their names ,you never hear about them, they are never on our TV sets, but they are the real power behind any party in power, and their job is handed down you could not just walk into it,
Who are the ones without faces then?
They are the 12 Permanent Secretarys of State.
They are there all the time and can never be removed.
All the very big offices of power in the Government have one ie=State,Foreign office etc.
What ever party is in power they stay in their jobs. They tell the minister of any department what to do and say, they have that power because they have always been in that department all their working life, then they hand it down to the next in line and so on. They are the real power behind any UK Government.

21:4693573jim hacker could do nothing about it either.
i wouldn't worry to much about the permanent secretaries, their job is to listen to the wild radical views of their political masters and then temper them with reality.
it is one thing to come with a great idea in a political blog, another thing to actually make the idea work.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.
