Sad to see the flag go up late and come down early. It was rubbing against the wall for all its worth. Why anybody would consider that appropriate is a mystery. Maybe consulting the advice from the Flag flying institute might have been useful. Those attending any publicly marked occasions , standing in the usual place, will stand with their back to the flag. It should have been placed on the other side of the front of the building as rightful place for a Union Flag. . . . No flag should be hoisted where it will knowingly be damaged etc. But then you already knew all that.
