Howard, I will explain a little more, as you are definitely interested in informing yourself as to little-known official catholic doctrines, that many people who have been to catholic schools probably do not know themselves. As these very old doctrines going back many, many centuries (and yet all later than the first Christian Church teachings) they are not usually explained in schools, probably because many who know also realise that people would not believe them and that parents would start opening their eyes and contesting what is being taught to their children.
Yes, it would be wise for us to call for a State investigation as to what the catholic doctrines teach in British schools - those which are catholic - and which many teachers in these schools probably do not even realise, as it was not explained to them! Well, the pope claims to be THE successor of Saint Peter, and the two keys which are the emblem of the Vatican flag officially represent the Keys that Jesus verbally and spiritually gave to Peter as explained in the Gospel, on the grounds that the pope holds these Keys, being 'the successor' of Saint Peter!
This means, Howard, that according to official catholic doctrine, the Pope holds the Keys to eternal Life as 'THE leader of the Church on Earth'.
His other official titles are: THE vicar of Christ on Earth and THE holy father and also: maximus pontifex, meaning 'the high priest'.
He also claimjs to be the highest person on Earth able to give the Holy Spirit, to forgive sins and to bless in a divine way.
Yes, Howard, please do look into this and help make a case nationwide into what young children are being taught in British catholic schools!
The pope - following the official Vatican doctrine - does not recognise any church as legal orther than the catholic church, officially considering all other churches as apostate and heretic!
