Bern, a reasonable question and not offended in the least. I will try to answer.
1. Leadership - have held senior management positions in several major companies (Motorola, P&O, Bull, CBRE) and a couple of SME's. Have headed up departments to Exec level (C level) in multiple sectors, multiple disciples., i.e. Finance, Sales, IT, Customer Support. Have successfully managed multi-disciplined teams from multiple nations on international projects across the globe. And so on and so on.
Operate with a progressive leadership style, from the front and all that means. Have built a reputation for rescuing failed projects and creating high performing teams, sometimes from almost impossible situations. Love it lots and am a real adrenalin junkie, much to the annoyance of my GP who thinks I should be planning for pipe and slippers, as if!!
2. Religion/Leadership - studied for the cloth some years back. Local minister went insane (nothing to do with me, honest!) and church couldn't afford a replacement. I was studying with another guy and the Head Deacon asked me and him to lead the church with deaconate assistance. I took the view this would be good experience and agreed, the other chap declined. I took prayer meetings, services, ran youth club and attended after service meetings with the young kids getting "into God". I was baptised at 19 so took (and still do) my belief very seriously. My approach was to maintain the sacrosanctity of the message in the Bible, but give it's message a relevance to the time we lived in. A trebling of congregation, from 19 to 57 was evidence enough for me that was what people wanted, not some remote figure blabbing ancient or Victorian stuff at them. Malcolm Muggeridge and Billy Graham were very influential to me. It was a tough couple of years and I discovered that my calling was elsewhere. Hence the road to answer 1.
I am no expert, but not a greenhorn either. I hope that answers your question. Apologies if I've been too personal for some, but I honestly have no intention of eventually publishing my life story.
