The post you are reporting:
I placed a rather strong posting up about the Pope's visit and the fact that the Catholic church is so steeped in pedophile allegations at the moment that it seems like an epidemic of child abuse rather than the "few individuals" that the Catholic elite would try and have us believe, but sadly it got removed following some complaints. I will get onto the Pope shortly but first, to the complainers, I say this. It really narks me like hell that my posting has been deleted on the power of your whining. And let's face it, claiming that something is "offensive" is just whining, plain and simple, but "being offended" is regarded as some sort of claim to rights these days and it does seem that my causing offense is a far bigger crime than the child abuse I was having a huge dig at.
Frankly I find child abuse a zillion times more offensive than my harsh dig at the Catholic church and the Pope, but there you go. I've used the world wide web since it was first invented but still it has the power to surprise me. Anyway I will apologise to PaulB for putting him in a difficult situation on this. Sorry Boss!
But anyway, back to my main point. The Pope's visit has had a lukewarm response in the UK, ticket sales to his various events are low, there's all the disgraceful CHILD ABUSE surrounding the Catholic church generally, some called for his arrest in the UK, and so on. I won't repeat what I said earlier (that got deleted) but anyone who saw it will know what I think of that Pope bloke.
What has really added insult to injury for me is the fact that this bitter situation has become a rather sour joke as we tax payers are getting a £12million bill for the "pleasure" of his visit. There will no doubt be plenty of ordinary Catholic folk who don't see the problem with this but for one thing tax money from a secular government should not be wasted on religious events, especially ones which are as dirty as the Catholic church currently is. We're in deep cut backs and we're all struggling at the moment so maybe someone can make sense of why £12m for a visit that nobody except the most devout follows give a damn about when we're in an era where school kids can't get their leaky roof fixed and we face reduced pubic services all over the show.
