A divisive issue but I doubt I could take seriously an officer with a tattoo on his/her face.

I personaly do not like tattoos, but if a police officer had tattoos, over there faces or hands,it would look horrible. They would not get the repect from the members of the public.

There was an incident in Glen Grove off the Folkestone Road earlier with police in attendance. At the top of the road an officer was standing with a short sleeved shirt on and both arms were totally covered in tattoos.

Tattoos are mainstream and acceptable now. I remember how shocked the world and his brother were when I got my first one in 1970. Nearly got the sack, and nearly got thrown out of my parent's house. Six months later, got the second one, it never caused anything like as much fuss as the first. First bobby I saw with tattoos was a transport Police officer at the Eastern Docks, many years ago. I think he was ex-services, at the time the only acceptable recipients of tattoos. Now they call it 'ink' or 'body art', no impact any more.
