BBC2 on at the moment.
A very interesting programme that shows how councils and planners reach their decisions well worth watching on iPlayer if you miss it. They have already shown a couple of plans I would find it difficult to decide on.

I saw it Jan, very interesting. I felt sorry for the old girl who was having an extension built up to her boundary. I wonder if our councillors go round on jollies on a mini-bus.

There are occasions Alec where we feel it would help to have a site visit.
We don't go on a jolly, we all go in our own cars and the site-visits are very serious and have a proper protocol to follow.
A decision is not made there, but a recommendation is then back for the Committee to then discuss further and decide.

Same here Alec but I was not surprised the plans were passed, I had no sympathy at all with the woman who spent all that money just so she could park in front of her beautiful house, maybe she would have been better spending the money on parking lessons.

Who'd be a planner?
A Conservation Officer wouldn't be worthy of the name unless they tended to side with the status quo. The Chester solar panels went the right way in the end as did the front access parking.
There was some affirmation that planning does not involve itself with precedent, yet precedence was about the only point the Planning Consultant could come up with. If there is to be weeping and gnashing of teeth it is probably best done in person.
Generally, I am not sure that there is enough emphasis put upon building on brown-field sites.
