The whole thing's ludicrous how can you have the labour party without the unions?! To me it's a load of Blairite types trying to put themselves in a better position to make personal gain-all very arkward if the unions are on to you. Therefore discredit the unions at the first opportunity and bite the hand that feeds you while your at it.
I am not of any particular political persuasion but the Unions are obviously the life blood of Labour(new or whatever) and the sooner they realise it the better. Unions are not there to be modernised-they are there to be nurtured. I'm afraid the shadow cabinet will have to go back to Fish'n' chips or suffer the consequences of the Labour party losing its identity.
Never give up...

Titanium Ed is in a difficult position because he made a Faustian bargain with Unite in order to win the party leadership over his brother with the help of the union's block vote. Now the chickens are coming home to roost.
Apologies for mixing my metaphors.

The need for unions today is needed more than ever
Ed is now in a no win situation
he takes on unite and the unions and loses dosh the party already in debt
he sits back and does little the unions get to strong and Falkirk happens

the only answer is for state funding for parties making it a criminal offence to receive outside donations.

I don't wish to pay for this, and with politics as it is at the moment, it wouldn't work
