 - Recently on the TV the campaigning group WHICH advertised a free booklet on basic information on computer use.

This would have been ideal for me, so i phoned the number advertised, the guy spent time trying to sell me loads of computer books, I told him your advert clearly mentions its a free booklet.

 He soon lost interest.

This group usually are on the side of the consumer, but i wonder if anyone else has phoned the number advertised?

interestingly its been over 10 days (no booklet arrived) aspromised by the guy on the phone

 - Which are not as whiter than white as they pretend to be.

I recall a situation about 20 or so years ago when they slammed an insurance company sales lady for misselling an investment. That lady was actually my manager at the time and I knew the inside story. Which had totally misrepresented the product recommended despite all the product documentation and evidence provided. It was over a year later when they conceded they got it wrong and reluctantly printed a small apology. They are as bad as any of the gutter press.

 - thank you peter,,,,,,,,,,

The organisation because of it's background is surely running a misleading advert
I have not recieved any free booklet, and i presume there only real interest was to get me to buy other stuff.

 - I phoned them for much the same reason as you Keith, a while back now. He wanted my bank card number at the beginning and it took some time for him to let go of the idea, I did get my booklet (not much cop). They have probably learned something in the mean time.
Which! are not a charity though, but could learn a bit more about advertising.
 P.S.
I am sure the exclamation mark is an integral part of their logo.
