did anyone here watch the documentary on bbc2 tonight?

quite enthralling, most of us know of the politics of the times, the invasion from the vikings up north, harold and his army having to win one major battle then face an enemy on the south coast, arrow in the eye etc.

what really surprised me was that william of normandy was a descendant of viking pirates from 150 years earlier.
i always pictured him as a genuine frenchman complete with beret, striped shirt, string of onions, the lot.

worth the licence fee just to get to the truth.
