Tony Blair went out on a high at a time of his own choosing and only really fell from grace after his departure. Broon never had a period of grace to fall from......going further back, Heath was finished off by the unions and Uncle Jim Callaghan was merely a caretaker in a job he never really wanted. Thatcher was stabbed in the front by her friends.

Wilson's nemesis was not really the devaluation, that was in 1967 and he came back as PM later on, only resigning in 1976 when he realised he was suffering from the beginnings of dementia.

John Smith would have made a good PM but didn't have what it took to get elected.
