Although Mr Cameron is always nice and friendly to Boris in his public disclosures, behind the scenes he is scathing..so the rumour mill suggests. We all saw Boris enjoying the Olympics and the Paralympics..and last night when handing over the flag to the Brazilians he was loudly and triumphantly cheered..in fact the roar was deafening right across London at the mention of the London Mayor and it continued as he strode forward with said flag. A politician can never have been so popular...how long the goodwill will last though is anybody's guess. These things can have a short time span!
But the fact of the matter is that Mr Cameron isnt going anywhere soon..nowhere. Nobody is going to shift him. He is ensconced in Downing Street and that's where he is going to stay until the next general election. Boris may indeed try to win a seat at the next general election with his eye on his own long term masterplan...Downing St!
If Cameron does NOT win the next election..the Conservatives will be looking for a new leader at that point. No mistake. But it all depends on the next election and the great unwashed voter out there.
Cameron only has one more go in him. The Tories change their leader with a swift brutality very often. No time in Tory ranks for losers. But if Cameron wins the next election, then the worlds his oyster for as long as he wants it.
DC in full flow at Question Time.Note the sleepy looking Ken Clarke slumping away in the background...no doubt longing for the grazing pastures of the evergreen shires of England.
