    Thank you Neil - quite true. It is also true that the higher tax rate does not generate more income for HMRC and that is what is important. It would be better to reduce the highest rate of tax to 37p instead of the 47p rate proposed (we have to include NI as that is an income tax). This rate will be the more successful increasing the revenue HMRC receive.

    Even better would be lower simpler flat taxes.
