I have just read that Primark are coming to Dover is this true or yet another rumour?

i saw something like that jan, took it as a facebook wind up as the site was in castle street.
i would expect primark to move here sometime in the future but to a town centre location like the current m and s store.

They'd need a pretty good-size store. There isn't anywhere in Castle Street that's big enough, apart from perhaps the old George Locke shop.

Wasn't it something that started as the blue hoardings around the old MFI site are being taken/have fallen down?

that's the one ray - a clear wind up.

Howard, is that wind as in the blowing kind or as in the micky taking variety.
I thought it odd as I understood the old MFI site was already taken but you never know for sure until you ask.

Jan, I've not heard Primark although I'm sure it would be welcome. The old MFI site will be flats and part of Cineworld complex.

Thanks Paul

, I know a lot of people would welcome Primark and also Wilkinsons.
It never ceases to amaze me how some of the rumours start.

Just been chatting to my youngest daughter and she wants to know when they will start work on Cineworld so she can stop her visits to Ashford. Personally I think she is mad to go that far just to be deafened, cinemas are much to loud for me.

Jan, the latest Cineworld
Interim Report 2013 to shareholders from Aug 2013 has no cinemas listed as due to open in Dover, just one 7 screen town centre site under discussion for 2014.
The
DTIZ plans with decision notice issued 24th Jan have a 6 screen cinema approved, maybe PaulW or Roger can give more details (I've only been to cinema 4 times this Millenium, although one was to Silver Screen a couple of weeks ago when the manager announced the digital projector problems - much prefer tv/DVDs at home with a pint or two of home brew at hand!)

Thanks for that link Ray.
I skimmed down to page 31 to Cineworld Growth : New Sites where it says....2017 'X' (cannot be disclosed at this stage)....we can only hope the 'X' stands for Dover.

the interim report in post 10 could hardly say anything different than it has, the plans were passed by the council just before christmas.
