I am still trying to get them in place around and in Dover, and you can try out some of equipment yourselfs at the event day at Whitfield on the 24th of June also at the event along the sea front in a few week s time.
It was down there when the run was on and will be down there again try it out for yourself they are great.
I have been talking the DHB.General Manager of business development Barbara Buczek and for you younger ones she is a fine looking lady.
Back to the gyms they still hoping to have one in place at some point and are working to that end.
I have offed help if the need be they are working with the officer at the DDC on this one to.
As you can see now for yourself that both the D.H.B. and D.D.C are working with each other in getting at last protects moving with I hope this being one of the first.
Once up and running the public can then try out a full working outside gym which in return will help me getting them put into parishs schools and even Dover Collage and the DUKE of Yorks school,
Time will tell.Thank you.

Again for this to go forward we will need to see much more support coming from the public.

There's a super outdoor gym along the sea front at Venice Beach, California. Perhaps DHB and DDC should send a fact-finding delegation to have a look.

nice one peter, on the serious side i think they are the way forward
besides the fitness issue they bring people together in one place which has to be good for community spirit.

Thank you Mr Mcsweeney
That is what I have been trying to get across for over two years now but very slowly we are getting there
One up your way would be great and would not take up much room and cost alot less then the money that was in the pot years ago for your ward.

The trouble is that an outdoor gym is just that - an outdoor gym, not a play area and I believe there is more of a need for a play area, especially around the Clarendon area.
Don't get me wrong, I think they are great and would do very well in say Connaught Park on the left-hand side, along with a car-park so more people can enjoy the park's facilities (and the work done by DDC and the Friends of Connaught Park).

I love Connaught Park especially after the improvements by Colette and her team. An outdoor gym would be a great addition. I think you are right that a car park would encourage more families from all over the town to spend time there.

Well thank you for your feedbacks and support and do know that they have the backing of the D.D.C. but again it will be down to funding.
I will try to find out more from the D.D.C. and get back to the forum how and when etc that will take I do not know.
Thank you. It might be they already have plans in place.
We will see,

An outdoor gym with exercise stations on a circuit round Connaught Park would be brilliant, Colette. Perhaps could be done with corporate sponsorship.

They have exercise stations on the coastal walk between Bronte Beach and Bondi in Oz - each one we passed, was being used.
I wrote to DDC about putting one in Connaught Park, but didn't receive any response, other than people would be contacted about it.

It's the same at Venice Beach. Always a queue of people jogging on the spot waiting to use each exercise station.

There were several signposted routes around Connaught Park about 30 years ago for different levels of exercise, long since disappeared.
We're going through the process in Lydden at present as we don't have any play areas but have an unused playing field - it's a case of identifying a need (a more involved process than saying wouldn't it be nice), identifying a site, working out potential costs, finding funding, putting out tenders to companies, and at an appropriate point in this process getting planning permission if it's a new site.
I love the idea of improved parking so people can drive to the park to exercise!
