... the new P&O ship has tried to take itself for a ride (translated from Swedish) !!
"A nearly complete vessels have broken away in the storm and run aground off Rauma. "Spirit of France" ran off into the night when the moorings at the wharf burst.
She is now due out STX shipyard in Rauma.
The vessel, which is over 200 feet long, was at the pier to get the final details assembled before she was transferred to the shipping company P & O Ferries.
The ship does not leak oil, and she also does not collect water. But the boat must be entered in the dock again, to assess the damage she had received.
The yard makes an attempt to salvage the vessel during the night between Monday and Tuesday.
Shuttle's sister ship, Spirit of Britain was completed in January this year, and the Spirit of France would have transferred this fall. According to the shipyard, the ship may not be transferred before December because of injury remains unclear.
The ships are the longest ferries operating in the English Channel.
The newspaper Satakunnan Kansa was first out with the news."
Here is a picture of it under construction.. from our archives. It seems to have been delayed several times already so hopefully this new mishap wont cause any damage. These ships are big.
