    Blair was no Thatcherite Alexander. Such a suggestion arises only from a lack of knowledge of what Thatcherism actually is. Mrs T did not close down industry, she did stop the subsidising of loss making nationalised, often strike ridden, firms and quite rightly so. Businesses must compete and survive in the markets for a healthy economy. Many of those then went on to prosper as privatised industries, the NFC for instance, a company I worked for just after it was privatised. Those that could not compete and survive or could not adapt, went to the wall or were taken over and that is what has to happen in a healthy economy.

    Jan - I speak my mind and I will not pretend. You don't actually know me from Adam hence I do not really care about your opinion of me as it is worthless as a result. As, to be fair, would any opinion I might expressed of you for the same reason. There are many closed minds on this forum.
