    I think the point that Tom is trying to make, is that if the Falkland Islanders can have self-determination (to stay British - and recognised by the rest of the world) by holding a referendum, then why can't Palestine and presumably the Gaza Strip ?

    The people of Gibralter want to stay British, but I don't knw if they have held a referendum on it.

    I thought Spain had given up their enclaves in Morocco Howard - there were a lot of Spanish Moroccans who wanted to move to Spain but they wouldn't allow it.
