....and failing it is.
So much so that after years of attacking those of us who are anti-Euro as being right wing extremists the left are trying to claim the Euro is a right wing project. This is so typical of them passing off their own failures onto their opponents.
Typical of the mendacity of the left.
The Euro of course has always been a political project. It has also been about European Big Statism, extending the big brother reach of the EU. All very typically left-wing and diametrically opposite to what we on the right think.
So below is a link to an article is the, you guessed it, Guardian. So now the news of the failing Euro really is sinking in to the guilty parties.

has a feeling you might turn it into a left/right issue barry.
the fact is that the european union is a monolith made up of different shades of government, it is called left or right by anyone that dislikes it.
as for the currency it is a blue german government that are most intent on saving it.

Howard - this was raised as a left right issue by that Guardian journalist, not me. I was responding to that to point out that it is not in any way shape of form a right wing project but one anchored securely on the left.

Vic, shopping in France is the last thing you want to do. The pound was worth one and a half Euros four years ago and has been losing value against the Euro ever since. It is now down to nearly parity, indeed one for one is all that is offered to passengers wishing to exchange money on my ferry.

These are exactly the reasons the currency is almost certainly going to fall apart. The weaker economies in the Euro are suffering because of the strength of the northern economies. The Greek crisis is worse as a result because their currency cannot take some of the economic strain. The same is true of Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland and even Belgium.

all rather frightening as the italian economy is twice the size of the greek economy, telephone numbers are being used to calculate our share of the bail out.
i refer of course to mobile numbers.

barry, how come the euro is stronger than the pound.day by day the pound gets weaker and weaker all the while the euro is getting stronger.your left/right atitude dose not help the pound but makes it a laughing stock of major money markets.

Howard - The Italian economy is six times the size of Greece and yes Marek it is in trouble.
Brian - what you are identifying is a serious problem for the Euro and why the weaker countries need to exit it. As I said before the left/right matter was raised by the Guardian columnist and was the point of my post to respond to it. Try clicking on the link and reading the article..

i don;t know why i said twice the size, i had just read an article that said "six times" immediately before i posted.
so the next problem is how much will the e.u. demand from us and how do we get out of it?
