  Jan, sorry, I did not think for a moment that you would be that way inclined. It takes a particular sort of person to be able to take aim at a live creature and pull the trigger. Thankfully they are in the minority.
  
  The first reports of this kill described it as a trophy kill, probably for the antlers that are at their largest during the rut. If he had taken it for its meat, its unlikely that the kill would have been discovered and reported.
