Can't see what all the fuss is about.

About 30,000 deer are legally shot every year, some for food, some to keep numbers down and stop the herd starving, some as pest control and some older or injured ones to keep the herd healthy. This one had led a good life, had all the women he wanted and was getting past his prime.

It's only getting in the news because the locals claimed he was the largest in the UK when there are probably many others just as large in Scotland, and they have lost a tourist attraction. The stuff about he shouldn't have been shot in the rutting season is rubbish, the legal shooting season covers the rut and many stags have a long and painful death due to injuries they get as part of their natural lifestyle at this time.

I'll just get my tin hat now and retire to the bunker while I wait for the flak.
