The end of E mail?

19 February 2015 21:08278852I think that email will be around for a long time yet Howard. Skype, Facetime and Messages are other apps which are being increasingly useful but e-mailing is more convenient for many.
I note in the link that you provided the writer seemed to forget you can unsubscribe from those that you no longer require to receive. Perhaps, in his case, a little good housekeeping would cut the unwanted volume down a bit!Do nothing and nothing happens. - 19 February 2015 22:01278854He is a journalist Bob so he has to read everything just in case there is a story in it. Incidentally a lot of times I have unsubscribed has not worked and I still get the E mails.

Unsubscribing emails from a known source usually has the desired effect, however doing this to unsolicited emails only encourages the sender to continue as this verifies your address as active to spammers.
As an extra safeguard you could put a block on any unwanted missives or direct them to your trash folder with timed deletion, i.e. 'Remove after x days.'
A lot of the 'rubbish' tends to arrive from companies which you have perhaps dealt with and omitted to tick, or untick boxes for info from 'selected third parties' or some other fancy description!
