Quality is the issue here. The phone, while getting better, has a number of shortcomings compared to a decent camera. Perhaps the phones will wipe out the budget end of digital cameras but I do not expect it to damage longer term the quality end. I speak as someone who only uses a phone camera and I can see how inadequate it is when I photograph my models (aircraft that is, not the rather, ummm more, errrr 'motivating' type of model.....)

Phone cameras have definitely improved, but if I am not trundling my camera kit around I keep a small digital in my bag just in case I spot something. I am using my phone camera more now though, but for me nothing will replace my trusty decent camera.

I'll stick with a proper camera. I like to have lots of settings I can play with.

My phone has an 8 mega pixel camera and is always with me, however if i go out specifically to take photos then it has to be the digital slr. I think mainly it is a matter of convenience.
