  Sorry Colin but you are wrong as well, not only does the earth rotate, but the stars in their galaxies are on their own stately rotation. As for what Alexander D has to say about the stars only being there for us to admire - it takes my breath away that anyone can make such an arrogant statement.
  And as a matter of fact aren't there parts in the bible where the heavens part and prophets descend on their chariots (was it Elijah or Elisha?). These people were writing about what they knew and they wanted people to live good lives, abiding by the laws and doing no wrong to others. That is what the Bible is - a set of rules and stories.
