I read the article, and have this to comment:
The term "Europeans" might be out of place in as much that the French actually call themselves French, and never say "we are Europeans".
Likewise, the Dutch refer to themselves as Netherlanders (Nederlander, also: Hollander). They simply do not call themselves "Europeans".
No people in Europe goes about saying "we are Europeans".
Here in Britain, a wrong impression is given by many newspapers, when they insistently harp on calling everyone in Europe "Europeans", although no-one in Europe calls themselves by this name.
It would be a bit like going to India and Burma and calling everyone "Asians".
That I know of, only the people of the USA call themsleves Americans, by the name of their continent.
As for the French and Dutch, I don't mind them running some services here in England, but I WILL refer to them as French and Dutch
