I have had the pleasure of looking after Dr Paul Kusy and Professor Liqin Zhao over the last few days.Dr Kusy's Dad was base commander at Manston in the 50's when it was an American Air Base and he was on the helicopter when the South Goodwin Lightship sunk in 1954,he is here showing his girlfriend Liqin Zhao who is Chinese but has lived in the USA for 10 years the area that means so much to him because of his Dad.
Over the last few days we visited Margate the house where his sister was born, and met his Dad's old friend Chris Fright a well know photographer in Thanet who showed us photos some never seen by the public. We also met the Mayor in Dover Cllr Anne Smith and visited Dover Town Hall and the white cliffs boat tour. They loved the area and are even thinking in buying a property here. Now the big thing was Paul was going to propose to Liqin while he was here.He chose to do it in front of the White Cliffs and not only did I know about it but so did most people we met,but she had no idea at all, until he asked her to Marry him during our visit to St Margarets bay.She accepted the offer and hopefully the story will appear in the D EX this Thursday.
By the way they want to return because they said Dover the area and the friendly people are wonderful
