The South Shields parliamentary by-election sees over 60% of the electorate boycotting the vote.
Of the less than 40% who voted, just over 50% voted into Parliament Emma Lewell-Buck, the Labour candidate.
Richard Elvin for UKIP came second with just over 24%.
The Conservatives received 11.5%, the LibDems less than 1.5%, down from almost 13% 3 years ago.
BNP achieved twice as many votes as the LibDems. And Howling Lord Hope of the Loony party not far behind the Libs.
The Loony Party seems poised to overtake the LibDems at this rate, while UKIP has more than double the support that the Tory party can boast of.
This is real-time change.
