  Cats tend to go where they fancy, I haven't got a cat flap so mine just stands bolt upright on the window sill to let me know when she wants to come in. the reason she picked my home was that where she lived was a female boxer dog with no pups that decided when a cat litter arrived they were hers and used to wash them before putting them in a basket at bed time.
  
  Mine was the only one to object much to the dog's annoyance.
