I can see why the latest proprietor has chosen this method to get publicity but the sheer quantity wolfed down must border on the obscene.

I think Dover already has an obesity problem and he does himself or Dover no good with this kind of gimmick, i shall not use that cafe again because of this. That said I bet there are plenty of Dovers fatties that would have no problem finishing and then go for a pudding!!!

A bit surprised that Brian hasn't given it a go, not normally one to shirk a challenge.

A bit of a publicity stunt just to get people in the cafe i think.A challenge in itself being in the confines of the Charlton centre.

Agree that the footfall has gone from bad to almost non existent over the last few years, just a cut through for people going to Morrison's or Asda now. There have been good people running the cafe trying out new ideas but I think the death knell came with the smoking ban. The bit in the centre always had two tables full of what I presume were families who had a full breakfast followed by tea, cigarettes and generally chatting well away from people within the cafe that in all probability didn't like smoke.
I doubt the massive breakfast stunt will do much to stem the problem now that it has been conquered.

The death knell started with the demise of the greengrocer, healthfood shop and then even more so when my much missed butcher closed. I seldom use the Charlton Centre even as a cut through now, certainly not for a month or more.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

It really is a most unpleasant cut through. I have always felt making a pleasant landscaped walkway from Morrisons to the Charlton Centre would improve the footfall to both shopping areas.
