Just been having a play with http://www.old-maps.co.uk and noticed an interesting area I'd always known as The Bayle in Folkestone.
The attached image from 1873 shows the area and roads around as The Bail. By 1938 the maps have changed to the current name of The Bayle. Does anyone know what The Bail actually was and why the spelling changed?
