21:0194382Yes It was 50years ago this year 1961,That the Buffs (Royal East Kent ) and The Royal West Kents became one of the same and anew Regiment was born, The Queens own Buffs,as a very young man in the army then, in 1958 I joined up in the buffs and I was on the amaigamation parade held on the parade ground of Ross Barracks on the 1st of March 1961,I joined my new Regiment in the Band but later on after a very bad car crash,I had come out of the band and I had a new roll to play within the Regiment. In our spring Journal this year there is alot of photos of that parade,100s of the public turn out to see it and Major General D.E.B. Talbot CB.CBE. DSO. MC and Major General R.W. Craddock CB.CBE.DSO,took the Salute that day. There was lots of royal telegrams read out of good wishes.
