I read the press and teletext recently and thought that I had either been out of the country on one of my jaunts or had been in a coma and missed the news that the Iron Lady had passed away. The news was full of whether or not she should be granted a state funeral. How uncaring and unthoughtful can one be.As much as I disagreed with her policies to discuss her funeral arrangements in public whilst she is still breathing Gods air is,in my opinion, very poor form and in bad taste.
I hope she lives to be a 100 and receives her card from the Queen..who will send the Queen a card when she reaches her century?Just a thought.
Please Govt if you have to discuss these 'arrangements' do it behind closed doors and in private.

I think therefore I am (not a Tory supporter)
Revealing though it probably is, I disagree!! I rather suspect she would enjoy the fact that it is being discussed......I have to tell you - you know those school moments during which you understand what your Mum said when she told you that once you have children you no longer have secrets? When our children were at Primary school we had one of those: one of my daughters came home from school and said they had been discussing politics, and she had proudly stood up and told the class that "Mummy says we are having a party when Thatcher dies and she will arrange the street party"...............

I agree with Marek I think it is of very bad taste to do this publicly. However as it is public, I also do not think she should get a state funeral, yes she done her duty as she saw fit, end of.
Think you daughter got it right though Bern.

Bern I will go for that one that would be great I can see it all now all the public on the sea front and the fireworksand all the cheering and the flags in the air what a send off,it must be done on the DOVOR REGATTA WEEKEND YOU ALL MUST DRESS AS Vikings. And best of all you must have a raffle and as the prize you get to light the torch to burn the boat, and that will be a sell out with the cash you make on the raffle you can build the new hospital, go for it young man.

i was struck by the bad taste of the media discussion.
victor
we discussed your send off some time ago up the western heights.
i remember you saying that you wanted to be blasted into outer space.
your wife(lesley) was sitting next to you at the time, she had a rather wistful look on her face..
i have no idea why.

That is true howard, I HAVE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR YEARS,so some one will have to cut me up some to go up there and some on the Viking ship, my wife still would like me shot into outer space so I think we will have to go along with that, because it is in my will.

Would be rather a treat to be blasted off into orbit like the great bird of the galaxy Gene Roddenberry, along with Scotty and come back as a sparkle of light aawww....
As for Thatcher, I hope she goes privatised on Connex South East (now defunct)!
Oh Boy!, That'll be the day.........
