    #27, my father used to fly Canberras and V-bombers in and out of Manston during the 50s and 60s. They were the noisiest machines ever to get off the ground. And I can remember as a boy watching a squadron of Lightnings taking off two abreast with afterburners lit, which made the ground shake.
