I wondered what other Forumites thought about the necessity of Text Books for GCSE Students.
My daughters school issue text books to students in all subjects expect Science, they have substituted this with an online alternative, which they say is more up to date. Text Books however are available in the classroom and will be issued to students who do not have internet access at home.
Personally I feel that although it shows progression the internet should be an addition to text books not instead of. Maybe its because I remember using my text books for revision more than I used my own notes and that text books can be taken anywhere to revise where you cannot guarantee internet accessibility.
I am currently considering buying the text books myself as I feel they are a required element of learning.
What do you think?? am I too old fashioned?? am I halting progress or do you think I am being practical.
