Noticed yesterday there is 3 or 4 tents pitched on a patch of grass between the estate agents and the kebab shop.A shop owner told me they had been there for at least a week. Also at Cowgate cemetry there is another 3 tents pitched together that have been there for at least 2 weeks that i know of.It seems that those in power just couldnt care less anymore to move them on or at least find somewhere suitable to pitch if these persons are homeless. They shouldnt just be left there.

First I have heard of this the homeless usually go for shop doorways as we know but when it was announced that there would be a clear out they all disappeared. Can't be a begging scam as the footfall in both locations is minimal.

Hardly a welcoming sight for visitors.

I thought there was supposed to be an evergreen plant thing to commemorate the Queen's birthday where the fountain was/is.

I thought it was to be a raised flower bed.
Market stalls hid the tents from public view.

"I thought it was to be a raised flower bed."
Which ever it was supposed to be there is no sign of it happening in the immediate future.

I wonder if these tent dwellers are the same group that were living in various shop doorways in town.Maybe the express could run a story, would be interesting to know.

Doubt it my understanding is that the shop doorway dwellers all had homes to go to.
Market Square looked desolate this morning with the Dover Greeters trying to enthuse the cruise ship passengers, but no fountain, not a flower in sight and the sailing ship devoid of greenery left them little to photograph.

That's a shame, but at least we can look on the good side, they can book a pitch in 'Tent City', Dover's new enterprise

Can't wait for the French to find out!
Collections all over France for those in the Dover Jungle. Concerned French Councillors and MPs visiting. Architectural students arriving to put up more substantial shelters. TV crews and Press visiting along with concerned French actors and toilers in the creative industries. Offers from French citizens to have the tent dwellers live in their own homes. etc. etc.
