Could anyone tell me the logic behind a road sweeper coming along solely on the day before the rubbish is taken. Then leaving it all the rest of the week???Lets hope that its not windy the days after the rubbish has been put out!! Still better once than never or few between !!

The usual answer to the question "Why?" is "Because!". My children used to drive me mad with that at times, as I'm sure most parents know only too well.

The sweeper is supposed to follow the dustcart - not literally, but the next day or later the same one, so he can clear up any mess the dustmen/refuse collectors drop or fall out of the containers.
If there are instances where this is not happening, let your councillor know and he/she can advise the waste department.

funnily enough a small veolia truck parked outside mine early morning, i thought great they are coming to take away my bins.
no they went over the road and took away some recycling stuff that must have been missed previously.
late afternoon another veolia truck arrived a chap went across the rd to the same house turned to the driver and shrugged "manuel style".
as if to say it's all gone.

ROGER;
Unless the council is misinforming me
road sweepers only go to well built up areas
side streets out of town get little say.
my own road(iv been here since 1999) only seen a road sweeper once
(i think he had got lost and was trying to find his way back into town lol

)
road sweepers only go to areas if the council gets a call for them to go to that area
they concentrate more on bigger routes
i always welcome a road sweeper to visit eaves road every week

Likely to be the same one that drove down the middle of the road with the occasional inward swerve, what a waste of time and money.
