No, not the media millionaire but the nice chap that lives in Elms Vale. It seems that his computer has been got at. Either that or he really is stranded in Rome and asking for money!
If you're in his address book ignore his email.

I've just heard some sad news that Ted Turner has died. Not sure if today, but very recently. He was a lovely chap and its very sad.

Yes Elizabeth. I phoned Ted on Wednesday morning to tell him that his computer had been hijacked. He was his usual amiable self.
I then heard the following evening that he had died on Wednesday afternoon at the Town Hall.
He worked for most of his life for Post Office Telephones then BT, apparently sometimes at "Q" Station. He was involved with the Boys Brigade in his early years.
A very nice bloke.

Terry, that's really sad news. I was in his Boy's Brigade Company - 2nd Dover - based at St Martins Parish Hall on Church Road. In later years he used to come over to the Elvington Community Carols at the Community Centre in Elvington and play keyboard to give the silver band a break during the evening. Thinking back, I must have known him for about 35 years. A great loss to our community and a very, very nice bloke.

Oh very sad, he was a semi-regular at Blakes and often to be seen outside one of the cafes in Market Square.
Often seen in the company of Ian Lillford.

Is that Ted who was in the same regiment as Ian Lillford (the Yorkshire) ?
I never knew his surname, but if he is the same chap, he was a really good guy.

That's very sad news. I knew Ted very well when I worked for the GPO / BT, it must be well over forty years ago when I first met him. I used to see him around the town a lot after he retired but not recently. He spent most of his career working underground at the repeater station at St Margaret's Bay and before that up at the castle at "Q Dover". He was a very nice chap, I'm sure lots of people will miss him.

I said in the original post #16 that the funeral details were subject to change. I have amended the post.
