Well yes in some cases we should...
We've all heard the complaints about social networking, instant messaging, texting ect, particularly when it comes to the yoof of today concentrating solely on their phones, computer's etc instead of actually interracting with humans and we've all heard the horror stories about how technology has broken up couples and ruined peoples lives (you've all heard the story of the couple who split up because one came home and found the other haveing internet sex, with avatars, on a computer game...do what!!!!!).
However, here's some food for thought, I actually think that in some respects social networking etc can enhance our social/family relationships. Before my husband and I got mobile phones, he'd call me at work to complain about how the children were making his life miserable and we'd end up arguing, he'd be frustrated about the children, I'd be frustrated that I couldn't do anything about it and once the call was over the lack of further communication until I got home would just compound that frustration which would in trun cause another arguement. Since getting mobiles however, we can not only text talk through issues to their resoulution without too much inturruption to the working day but we say "I love you" to each other at least half a dozen time's a day, it's brought us much closer.
Same with Facebook, I have numerous family members who live all over the country and in some cases outside the country, with facebook I am able to keep in touch with them daily if I wish, not something I could do before, receiving a letter through the post is nice but it does take time. Facebook and email is at least instant.
Then of course there's skype, Chris' niece in Austrailia has just had a baby, with skype her parents still in the UK are able to see the babies progression in reall time rather than through photographs and expensive yearly trips.
Yup, I've got to tell you in some respects (not all) I love techology.
