Just to clarify , these families which we have accepted are NOT housed in Dover. It is part of the agreement that they are housed across the District. A third family due to arrive was accommodated elsewhere in the South East due to complex medical needs. Local people have been brilliant in accepting & supporting the families. They come directly from refugee camps in the Middle East & assessed by the UN & other agencies via the Foreign Office prior to resettlement being agreed.

Completely different situation to Germany and to a lesser extent Sweden Al, Mrs Merkel saw a great opportunity to get skilled/professional people in to keep wages down. Call me Dave was very shrewd in offering places here in the UK to people in refugee camps that needed help. Disabled, elderly, victims of torture etc which means just 12 families in 5 years in our area.

Meanwhile all over England 250,000 are homeless & on the streets ,how strange that there is plenty of heating food & shelter for so called refugees immigrants migrants and illegals ,but none for our own people ,,Walk round Dover tonight and walk along the seafront to see people huddled in shelters on the prom and shop doorways ,but councils cant and wont put these ppl before foreigners
