Did anyone know of this in advance?

I had not seen anything about it, the organisers obviously think it was some big secret that must not to be shared.

Hmmm, yes Jan, in just the same way as the Italian Market last year was a huge secret (not). This particular market will be in the market square until Friday and will then relocate to the sea front for the Regatta. There will be another full week Continental Market towards the end of the summer.

There is no comparison with last year's Italian market Neil which was advertised 2 months in advance and there was great coverage on social media and the local press with signs pointing people towards Market Square.
I have seen nothing on this until I chanced upon it and there were no signs telling people it was on.
I checked earlier on my return and there was no mention on the "Town Team" Facebook page.

It was not advertised in the same way as the Italian Market was last year Howard. But then with all the effort we put into advertising the Italian Market last year there were still loads of complaints from people telling Town Team that there was no advertising. This year, much less effort for advertising. To be honest, I had forgotten that today was the start day myself - mainly because it'd passed me by what the date was today (or even the day of the week). I looked at Town Team FB earlier and shared what was there when I was reminded what day it was today.

Fair enough Neil I was rather miffed to find an Italian bloke cooking up various treats after I had already bought my lunch.
Bought a couple of items from a craft stall that will do nicely as presents, I would urge people to visit as it on again tomorrow an Saturday.

Not even mentioned on the Town Team Facebook page which is obviously not up to much publicity wise as the last post on there was 2nd May.

Unfortunately all the Town Team members are very busy business people, unlike the people who bitch at them all the time. Like Howard, I had already lunched before smelling the food stall. But there's always tomorrow.....

Last day tomorrow, a small market but different to other ones.
The Italian grill does very good nosh and the craft stalls are very original.

The Town Team FB page is not particularly active - attention has switched to its associated FB page The Dover Blue Bird Market which is where all the action is. This was updated with this market.
The market will join with the Regatta on the seafront tomorrow.

I find it difficult that you posted that with a straight face Neil.
When I applied to join that site I was told very politely that is was only for stall holders.
Incidentally where were the banners that proclaimed it to be a "Dover bluebird market"?

I had a perfectly straight face Howard as I didn't know that you'd been told that.
Blue Bird Banners have been torn and ripped and made tatty or we're not allowed to hang them from where we want to because the lines are not rated to carry the pull of one of our banners in the wind.
