I am very happy to be woo-ed by Tesco or anyone else. This is going to be a tough winter with our pocket economics squeezed beyone beleif with utility fuel prices hit the worst, so anything that gives us a bit of help would be great. Im all for a price war.
Brian I think its illegal to artificial hike prices prior to a sale..as I understand it anyway.

paulb,it has been known to happen in the past.the hike is a simple thing, say the price of a single can of baked beans say sell normaly at 25p over a period of weeks it rises to 30p,not a lot you say but when things like this come along they knock them back down to the origanal price.all cleaver stuff.
ps,the prise rise is done slowly so you dont notice.

Tesco have been slowly raising their prices recently so I have been told by customers, now they lower them, not that I am cynical. Just heard on the news their club card points are to be halved, give with one hand take away with another.
As this has hit the media what great free advertising for them, that must have saved them thousands of pounds.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

tesco must be hurting locally, morrisons always seems packed out and they cater for the motorist with free parking.
on a slighly different theme i notice that since poundland have arrived, supermarkets have been cutting prices on items that poundland sell.

Howard i'm with you about Morrisons always i fine i spend less but my trolly is fuller, but it seems that now you do have to shop around, do use tescos for some things but have found over the year they are expensive.
I also use Morrisons , I used to shop at the Co Op but its prices seem to be rising . Morrisons seems very friendly as well as having keen prices
And Morrisons cafe is much better too!
Morrison's are giving a voucher for 6p of a liter of fuel if you spend £30.00 in there shops the only drew back that you have to go Canterbury for the fuel or were there is a Morrison's with a fuel station, but 6p a liter
if your filling up is a good saveing.
we tried asda the other day and i must say i was impressed far cheaper than tescos now

I also tried Asda the other day and found their prices very reasonable indeed but its a relatively small Asda and consequently doesn't have their full range. I'm not complaining though, very pleased to have them
