It looks increasingly likely that opening hours on the sabbath can be decided on by individual businesses. Some experts say that it would boost sales but I can't see it. Most people have a set amount of money to spend each week/month and the 24 hours opening of some large supermarkets 6 days a week leaves plenty of time to shop.
It is about time they lifted these draconian restrictions, the country runs 24hrs a day there should be the option for retailers to service the need that comes with the territory.
Can't wait to see what ArchBish Welby has to say.
The decision about longer opening hours is to be made by local authorities, Can't see any great demand in East Kent other than Canterbury which will no doubt leave Archie to lead a protest.
About 20 years ago I was talking to an Australian bloke who loved our high streets because there were still individual outlets. Apparently in Australia every town and city has a shopping mall in line with size of the town or city with the same national companies in each mall.
