13:4585593i realise this is not the time of the year for the above but leading dermatologists are now saying that it is good for us.
over the last few decades they have been banging on about the dangers of skin cancer and how we should avoid any exposure to the currant bun.
all change now, the latest advice is to go out in the midday sun with no sunblock and lie there for 15 minutes, then cover up or put sun block on.
we are apparently suffering from vitamin d deficiency and need the sun to top us up.
before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m. is no good in the u.k.

13:4885595But a lot of people should stay covered up from head to toe

. I dont listen to any of the intelligent people telling me how i should live my life

13:5785601Howard - a small amount - 20 minutes or so exposure to the sun is good for us along with a well balanced diet.
What is bad is prolonged exposure particularly when we have strong sun

14:1785617that is basically what the report said ross.
i like the sun and take advantage when it is out, common sense tells me when i have been in it long enough.

14:2185619I would respectfully suggest that it is wise to listen to some people, as they might actually know something!!

20 December 2010

15:1985635Pls not a firm beliver that prisons work for the holiday makers that are in them at her majestys pleasure hence why most reoffend very quickly

15:2485636And that is from a knowledgable view, I expect? Mel - I did not cast aspertions on you, I was just being flip - plus it is true, many people inside have decided to make their own rules up and it doesn't work. And while I don't believe in a deal of nannying either, it seems silly not to listen to people who actually know about things for the sake of a bit of bravado. I would also add that prison is nowhere near a holiday camp. It isn't a Siberian salt mine either, and I am actually rather proud that we don't treat people as animals in our prisons. I heartily approve of punishment and payback, but not of inhumanity.

16:5185654Mel, with the greatest of respect I hope you never learn the hard way that some experts know what they are talking about.
I find the main problem with most expert advice is that it contradicts some other expert's advice.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

16:5285656Exactly! It's a question of sifting it all and making an informed decision, having heard all the points - not ignoring it all!!

the exception is climate change, i have given up on that one.
every new development or discovery seems to coincide with someone having a book published.
