08:4193760Not heard that one yet Brian but as ever the West will be relying to the Americans should the Iranaians get up to any shenanigans. Its very sad to think that our once glorious fleet is depleting all the time and therefore probably unable to have a significant presence.
As an aside...its interesting to note what happened to Iran after the cultural revolution, lets hope the same thing doesnt happen to the arab countries seeking freedom today.

08:4693761They are ostensibly in transit to Syria. This was aired on AlJazeera TV a couple of weeks ago. It's the first time Iranian warships have come this far west since the 1979 revolution. The Israelis are getting a little sweaty about it.

15:5093798Is that right Howard well I never...most ships dont seem to last that long. Doubt if they would be much of a threat in firepower terms as technology has moved on since then. The Shah's era was a long time ago.
Was the world a safer place when we had guys like the Shah in power?

17:1193804countries in the west love people like the shah in power, they like the stability.
any consideration for the people oppressed is thought unimportant.
unfortunately, as we now see they fall quite easily, any new government will not look kindly on us.
