A few years ago, during the last year of a Labour controlled DDC, a list of proposals came out of Whitfield that were so unpalatable to the people of Dover the next election saw Labour out and the Conservatives in. There was even a public meeting held in the Town Hall as a last ditch effort to convince people that the measures were benificial, without success. Among that unacceptable list of proposals were the withdrawing of cash counter payments from Council Offices, since gone, raising parking charges ( remember the recent fuss?) and closure of public toilets. And yet people still see-saw from one party to the other.
