we are all aware that k.c.c. are looking to make savings in all departments to compensate for government spending cuts.
at present they cover fares for pupils that travel to schools that are not the nearest one to them.
not a statutory requirement as i understand it. the council currently pays out over £.14 million a year on over 19,000 pupils.
the proposal will affect about a quarter of schools, 33 grammar, 6 roman catholic and one church of england school.
at present this is at the consultation stage with parents with the start date of the change scheduled for september 2012.
this will not affect any families who have children in education at present.

At last something current that can rightly be described as Kafkaesque.
A proposed cut that
-may never happen
-take effect in a year
-not affect any who are at present taking advantage
-will, in the main, only affect the 'right' sort of voter
You couldn't make it up.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

didn't see it quite like that tom, it will go ahead, consultation is just something that has to be done before it can take place.
it only applies to new pupils not those already on the current scheme.
