A few years ago I attempted to set up a bird table, I had the very devil of a time making it pigeon proof. That year the table did attract starlings into the garden and they did a truely wonderful job of clearing out the garden and the flower pots of all the harmful grubs. I have since evolved the bird feeding down to a couple of hanging peanut feeders, good for the sparrows and tits, but little else. I would welcome another visit from the starlings just the same.
BTW. The collective noun for starlings is Murmeration.
