- 4 January 2011 21:2387766Truly stunning! I tried to look at the lunar eclipse this morning at dawn but, first it was from inside a prison (don't ask) so the view was a bit obscured, and it was also a bit foggy. But these pics make up for that. Thank you
- 4 January 2011 21:2987769As you know mywife and myself went up 40.000 ft last year with the BBC Sky at night team,if you log into their webb site then scoll down to Nov/3rd you will see the same sky as we did that night we was up there over 3 hours all the lights inside and outside the plane were turn off so we coukd see better there was 127 of us on the plane.
- 4 January 2011 21:3487771Yes, lovely picture`s there many of which can be viewed in the `Sky at Night` magazine which I`m lucky to get free from my daughter who get`s them from a work colleague who literally dumps them when he`s finished with them, but now lets me have them. It`s through viewing these sort of picture`s that make many things down here look so trivial and pathetic at times.Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

- 4 January 2011 21:5087777Funnily enough Paul, the November issue of `The Sky at Night` magazine was a special issue on telescope buying. I`ve read through and I`m still tempted to get a large telescope and go into astrophotography, though I`m not sure what`s happening with me yet. I`ve had a few scopes over the years, but maybe now I`m more free, who know`s. Could do some great pics to place on here! Nice pics above by the way mate.Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

i read that north east sweden had the best view of the eclipse. - 4 January 2011 22:2387784Nice photos Paul - crater Copernicus and its vast blanket of ejecta is really clear in the middle picture.
Shame it's so cloudy tonight as it would have been a good chance to see the Quadrantid meteor shower.
I've tried to take such pics before but my camera really isn't up to scratch. I did once manage to get this rather pathetic picture of Jupiter and its moons from my garden, but with a £250 camera I'm amazed I even got this:
