While I don't question that she is a hard working and dedicated councillor, I have seen little of it in her (my) ward.
For example there has been a chest of drawers, baby cot and buggy dumped at the end of her rd for at least 4 mths, slowly being dismantled and disseminated by the local children there are vast amounts of dumped rubbish over the fence along Barwick rd. There is a big problem of residents flytipping on there own doorstep it's getting like Folkestone rd.
She must leave home and return in the dark not too see the deterioration or just does not report it. The community here has been without a play area for a considerable time now and I have heard or seen no progress on getting one back.
I don't know whether her good works are enough to win the award, good luck to her, but I strongly believe one should be judged on their failings and non achievements as much as the successes.
If a person cherry picks the projects they get involved with you can hardly judge them fairly, I don't point the finger at Sue for this but there are a lot of things not being done in the ward and I have heard nothing from any of our 3 councillors in the way of addressing or highlighting them

"Sue is a busy woman but never too busy to listen to her constituents. She not only listens but acts, and does so with flair."
Going by Reg's post it seems either nobody has complained about the rubbish or she is not as good as the article makes out.
Didn't Sue win some unheard of award to do with toilets last year or the year before.

Sue may work hard never in my ward though when she was District Councillor, the major issues such as a play area, fly tipping, slum landlords, the bus service and the tram shelter were dealt with by Keef and Roger, nowadays by Peter Wallace and John Heron who are both totally hands on.
The community toilet scheme was great in theory but not in practice as very few people know where it operates. Let's see how many members know where they can use a toilet in town without buying anything.

I agree with Reg .I have reported many problems in the St Radigunds ward ,in fact because I often use the bus that travels through the Ward I get people complaining to me even now Im no longer a Councillor.
Who recalls the saga of the wavy bench seats.? I tried unsuccessfully I might add to stop the street furniture being painted blue. The Civic crest was covered and the painting was not done very well
Now the new lights are causing a stir.

I always thought the bluebirds referred to were found in America as that is where the song writer was from but there are some interesting theories to be found here including one about the RAF..

Hi Sue, re your post on the street furniture - the black and gold street furniture was really, really tatty, rusted and chipped. The crests were unrecognisable as crests - all/most colour gone from them. I understand that Dover Town Council liaised with officers at DDC to get them repainted and that the colour was agreed with DDC officers before repainting was done. In my own view, just the fact that they had been de-scaled and painted (whatever the colour) made them look a thousand times better than they did previously.
As for Blue Bird - I refer you to the following as the genus does exist:

I agree Neil the street furniture was tacky but Castle Street kept to the black. The senior officer now retired from DDC did not agree .I tried to trace the record of the meeting but minutes were not available. The removal of the Civic Crest was like me getting the Mace and daubing paint on it.
The Eythorne service looked interesting.

The Eythorne re-dedication service was quite moving, especially for Stan Suthers whose brother's sacrifice was officially acknowledged after so long.

Often saw
these when I lived in America. Very common in some parts.
