A point about Conservative and Town/Parish councils.
When I was Constituency Chairman, and before, it was policy not to stand Conservative candidates for Dover Town Council, though local branches in the Association did decide to stand candidates for other Town and Parish councils as was their right to do.
That changed when Roger became Chairman and a decision was made to do so in some Dover Wards.
Any Conservative member, of course, would always be free to stand as an independent (ie without Party support and selection) in any seat that the Party was not contesting.
The Conservatives are far more relaxed about such matters and have much more decentralised decision making than most outside realise.
